Concrete Color & Pigment FAQs

DCS is a Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based pigment manufacturer proudly serving the Precast/Cast Stone, Manufactured Stone Veneer, and Building Supply industries.
Getting started with DCS is easy! Simply give us a call at 414-769-2580, and one of our knowledgeable Sales Representatives will help you determine the right pigment for your application, the quantity you need, and the best delivery option.
While we strive to serve as many customers as possible, please note that DCS does not operate a retail storefront or offer over-the-counter sales. All purchases require an established DCS account, which typically takes 1–2 business days to set up.
Need pigment sooner? Give us a call! We'd be happy to help explore your options and, when possible, connect you with a distributor in your area who may be able to meet your immediate needs.

No. At DCS, we're proud to offer no minimum order requirements, giving our customers the flexibility to purchase exactly what they need. Whether you're ordering one bag or several, we're happy to accommodate your needs.
-
In most cases, stocked colors in standard 50 lb bags are ready to ship within 1–3 business days. Custom or non-stocked colors, specialty bag sizes, and Liquid Color orders typically ship within 2 weeks—a turnaround time that sets us apart from many pigment suppliers across the country.
At DCS, we understand how important it is for our customers to have the materials they need, when they need them. That's why we prioritize maintaining short, reliable lead times to help keep your operations running smoothly.
-
DCS has more than 4,500 colors in our library and creates new blends weekly. If you have a unique pigment need, give us a call at 414-769-2580. There's a good chance the pigment you need is already in our library!

Absolutely! DCS regularly matches existing concrete, pigments, and paint colors. Simply call us at 414-769-2580 to discuss your project, then provide one of the following:
A sample of the pigment you need matched
A sample of the existing concrete or building surface
A Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore paint number representing the desired final color
Once received, we will create a pigment sample for your review and approval.
-
All DCS color displays show a color at a given loading percentage, usually 1%, 3% or 5%. These percentages represent how much pigment was used compared to the cementitious material in a batch; slag and fly ash count as cementitious material.
To match a color display, multiply your cementitious content (lbs or kg) by the display's percentage. For example, a batch with 600 lbs of cementitious material matched to a 3% display needs 600 × 0.03 = 18 lbs of pigment.
-
No. All DCS pigments pass ASTM C979, the Standard Specification for Pigments for Integrally Colored Concrete.
-
DCS pigment is mixed into the concrete as a percentage of the weight of the cementitious material in each batch (see "How much pigment should I use to match the colors in your color displays?" above).
Iron oxide pigments are used in hundreds of applications, from paints and coatings to plastics to construction-grade concrete coloring. DCS has published several white papers on iron oxide use in the construction industry, available in our Resource Library: https://www.dynamiccolorsolutions.com/resource-library. If you need additional information, give us a call and we will be happy to assist you!
DCS Dynamicast™ Color Hardener is a pre-blended facial colorant that can be used to color the surface of a concrete product. Use of this product requires sufficient product knowledge, so please call us at 414-769-2580 to learn more!
