There’s more than one way to cook an egg, and there is more than one way to add color to concrete and concrete products.

DCS customers can order our Small Bags in any size, from 50 grams to 49 pounds. Using the convenient, premeasured Small Bag dry pigment can help improve color accuracy and consistency.

Putting the Small Bags to work can also reduce the need for skilled labor. Small Bags make life easier for both manufacturers and mason contractors.

"You can order 2.3-pound bags. You can order 37-pound bags," said Cathy Higgins, DCS’ vice president of sales & marketing.

Small Bags Help Eliminate Weighing Pigment

“We take pride in delivering our products to our customers in the form that’s best for them. Some customers love our 50-pound bags of dry pigment,” said Higgins. “That’s what they are used to. They have someone who is trained to precisely weigh the pigment and add just the right amount to the mix to get the color they are looking for. But, by ordering our Small Bag Pigments, customers can simply add a whole bag and eliminate the weighing -- reducing the chance for mistakes.”

All Kinds of Customers Love DCS Small Bags

Small Bags are used by a wide range of customers, according to Higgins. “Precasters tend to have color needs that are job-based instead of having a standard line of colors they offer. So, the color can be different from job to job. They don’t tend to have ‘standard’ colors like some other concrete product manufacturers.”

“But, it’s essential that the color be consistent on each particular job. So, instead of having Joe—who could have some critical job in your precast plant—carefully weighing out the color for the mix, he can actually do the job he was hired to do. With our Small Bags, the customer can tell an employee to add one bag per batch of concrete. We have customers who like to order 20-pound bags for a two-yard batch, 10-pound bags for one-yard batch, and 5-pound bags for a half-yard batch. It makes it easier for their employees to get the color right,” she said.

Soluble Bags Make Things Even Easier

In sizes of 15 pounds or less, DCS also offers dry pigment in soluble bags. "The soluble bags are made of a material similar to that used for laundry detergent pods. You can toss the whole bag of pigment into the mixer. It's very handy. Obviously, you have to be careful to keep the individual bags dry until you are ready to use them. But, we are selling more and more of these," Higgins said.

While purchasing dry pigment in custom Small Bags costs a little more, the Small Bags can more than pay for themselves by saving time and headaches, and preventing mistakes. Many customers—even those who have used 50-pound bags for years and years—love the DCS custom Small Bags.
